kip

True story, if you start to google Napoleon, you don’t get the French Leader who shaped the course of history.  You get Napoleon Dynamite.  Great movie by the way.  Above is the lovable kip who spends his time all day chatting with babes on the internet.  When I started blogging, I truthfully didn’t know anything about the world of blogging.  I didn’t know if was a bunch of Kips sitting around posting things, or if it was just mommy bloggers.  However, I am pleased to report that it is neither.  For those that don’t know, SITREP basically stands for Situation Report. Its often used in military terminology but is fairly mainstream as well. It is designed to more or less, wait for it, report on the situation. Imagine that, right. So, its been about a month, 4 weeks exactly today, so lets pretend its non leap year February, that is 4 weeks since I started this blogging project with my first post, Would You, Would I? Go back and read it if you came to this blog later. Consequently, I wanted to take this blog post and share a few observations I had on the blogging world.

Firstly, much to my surprise, most blogs as it turns out seem to actually be about blogs. Seriously, its the craziest things.  Telling you how to market a blog, write a blog, share a blog, blog this, blog that, and just blog. However, when you google blogs, this seems to be what comes up. Now, I am not upset about this. It has been very informational. When I don’t know what to do next with the blog, I simply google, “What do I, Or How Do I” and then the answer pops up from someone who wrote a blog about blogging. Thanks internet.

Secondly, bloggers are actually pretty interesting people. I have had the opportunity to connect with a few bloggers through the blogosphere and they all seem like cool people who just feel like they have something to offer the world. So to one degree or another, they are action oriented people. It honestly doesn’t take too much to start a blog, so if you ever thought about it, I say you do it.   I promise you, if I can do it, then so can you. Blogging for a living is a whole other story, but I am not quitting my day job.  I actually love my day job.  There does seem to be ways you can make a few bucks easily blogging. I don’t want to brag but, I have made 5 cents through google ads during this first month.  So if you see me with a single worther’s original candy, I think you will know where that came from. Yes, I said worther’s.  Check out this article for an explanation, 3 Steps to being a Grizzled Old man.

Next, an audience is king. This is what many bloggers seem to be seeking, honestly, including myself. If you feel you have something valuable to say or offer to the world, then why not say it to the many rather than the few. I have been blessed, in that during this first month, I have gotten over 4000 views of my blog, no idea really whether that’s good or bad, but its more people than I would normally talk with on a given month. Its been fun to see what articles gain traction and the others that do not. Blogging is also the one area of life when I get excited that strangers are following me. Seriously, I consider it a win if a total stranger likes the facebook page or follows me on Twitter or google plus. So if you are a stranger reading this, click the links on this post and follow me. You can also sign up to get post via email. This is helpful as well. You don’t get SPAM, you get the blog post. So not on facebook often and want to read my blog, just sign up on the form to get post by email.

All personal friends, you can also help me by doing this as well. Many of you already have and I’m thankful. It just helps to have an audience. According to one blog, I can get a 24 count muffin pan for free to do a product review if I have 100 Facebook page likes. I like muffins, so lets make this happen.  Also, it’s been my friends who have helped share my post and every time you do this its huge. Feel free to share a post you liked, but didn’t actually share.   It gives me a huge bump of visitors from your friends. Never underestimate your individual influence.   So every share on Facebook or twitter you decide to bless me with is like buying a cake from a mom and pop shop instead of Wal-Mart. So screw the corporate giants. Unless any corporate giants want to buy add space from me, then never mind, long live the Corporate Oligarchy. But it’s my friends that really have the power within their fingertips to make this a successful blog.  Imagine the possibility of your influence and the power you hold.

Again, I am thankful. So I don’t know whether I am doing good or bad as a blogger, but I enjoy it and do enjoy having a voice and forum to rant.  So should I ever become famous and this blog were to ever take off, I promise to bake each and every one of you a muffin with my new muffin pan. Or the first 24 of you that is.

  1. Nice stats for just one month of blogging! Thats more than what I get each month and my website has been around for about a year. I think your success is due to the fact that your a good writer and you have a lot of interesting life experiences. I was a bit surprised when I saw the amount of social shares you get on your posts, a little bit jealous as well.

Anyhow, looking forward to the next post!
